24th Annual Awards Brunch

2008 BRUNCH NEWS (Updated June 22, 2008)

The National Congress of Black Women, Inc. holds its 24th Annual Awards Brunch, "Celebrating Truth: "The Year of the Black Woman", Sunday September 28, 2008 10 AM @ the J.W. Marriott Hotel 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. This is the year the Sojourner Truth Memorial will be installed in the U.S. Capitol.

The current Brunch program includes Shelia Stewart (Mistress of Ceremonies, Radio One-DC), Joe Coleman (Musician -- The Platters-MD), Caron Butler (Washington Wizards--DC), Pastor Delman Coates (Enough is Enough Campaign--MD), Payne Brown (Strategic Markets, Comcast--PA); Butler, Coates and Brown will receive NCBW 's "Good Brother Award ". Women honorees are Yvette Cade (Yvette Cade Fund for Prevention of Domestic Violence--MD), Kathi Wilkes (Corporate and Congressional Strategist--DC) and Rev. Cheryl Moore ( "One of the Best Young Preachers "--NC), Johnnie Mae Gibson (Subject of the movie "Clean Dirt "-- A Memoir of Johnnie Mae Gibson, FBI Special Agent) and G. Jean Davis (Businesswoman Extraordinaire!). Among other invited awardees are Tyra Banks, and Jill Scott.
